Beyond Groupon Now -- Street marketing platform in GroupDeal

Our team has developed GroupDeal, group buying software platform that powers many Groupon competitor sites. Being ours is the first and popular groupon clone in the market, our team introduced many new features. Like I already pointed out , we added self service merchant login in the first version itself and Groupon introduced the same feature--much later as Groupon 2.0. By August 2011, our team introduced another killer feature termed as "GroupDeal Live". It is more than Groupon's Groupon Now: It has street marketing ability. With it, merchants can create deals for the (sudden) crowd. By looking at merchant control panel, they can find the users around their shops and branches. The users are classified into Normal/Web Users and iPhone Users--and so, merchants can identify the new crowd. They can then create deals to attract the online crowd. The platform will be of huge help during any procession or sudden crowd in any branches. I hope, Groupon will adop...

Groupon's PR - possible reason for success...

Of late, I'm quite serious to find some PR personnel to get media attention for our products and labs initiatives: Labs CSSilize - World's first and only project management tool for slicing works (PSD to XHTML conversion and WordPress theme works) SocialAV - World's first and only antivirus building community (start building antivirus online...) jobreapr - World's first and only fixed price job search engine Uboo - India's first full blown consumer portal (private beta) Products GroupDeal - powers many Groupon competitor group buying sites FPPlatform - powers many Fiverr competitor fixed price job sites SFPlatform - powers many Kickstarter competitor crowd funding sites Why PR? As I blogged earlier, our team has added lot of innovations and features. Recently our GroupDeal product/company got a mention in The New York Times . Similar or better coverage might give our team great energy to innovate further and may get good VCs. How Groupon is doing PR? T...

Indian groupon sites Vs. GroupDeal

I previously noted that Groupon is chasing GroupDeal , the group buying software platform that our team has developed and also powers many Groupon competitor sites. Remember the self-service platform and QR-code based online validations are first introduced by GroupDeal. There are lot of Groupon like sites introduced in India. Here, I list few of them. But, I'm pretty sure that any site that use our GroupDeal product can do much better. SoSasta - Bought by Groupon even before getting active. Not sure, why did Groupon buy this. SnapDeal - by Delhi based Jasper company MyDala taggle - Bangalore based Koovs - Like Gilt, but public FashionAndYou - Exactly like Gilt. From DealsAndYou DealsAndYou SnatchDeals - Like Yipit BindaasBargain - Like Woot Groffr - on real estate Issues with Indian Groupons When quickly checked, there doesn't seem to be clarity on the focus for these players and some are looking aggressive but doesn't seem to have good software platform...

Groupon - Next move?

Sometime ago, I blogged Groupon is chasing GroupDeal , the group buying software platform developed by our team and powers many competitor sites. Groupon has chased our self servicing platform and introduced as Groupon 2.0/stores. In that concept, to overcome the whitelabel group buying platforms, they have offered 2 types of self-services: promoting via groupon with 30% commission and promoting to followers with 10% commission--eventually focusing everyone to use their defacto platform. Unlike groupon, as we have already added friends module , what could be groupon's next move after adding self service platform? I have an answer:-)

IT solutions industry and clone sites--option for creativity?

As noted, our team developed software solution platform that powers many Groupon and Fiverr like sites. Initially, the development wasn't much interesting as now; there was less freedom to add our own idea--as customers would be asking exact or similar features of popular site. Taking GroupDeal, when we added merchant interface, many customers didn't want it as it wasn't a feature available in Groupon and LivingSocial; but Groupon has come up with similar feature as Groupon 2.0! We've even added friends mod as I have a gut feeling that Groupon will definitely take that direction. From the very beginning, we predicted that Groupon is good idea out of Woot, but the interface isn't good--something like Digg would be ideal for Groupon; but, we couldn't do anything here. Also, the initial FUD was that our software didn't scale on load--even when we shown it's scalable than Groupon; and that got settled down once MySuperDealToday could sell 1,440 deals in a...

Groupon - hype or paid news?

As our team is developing GroupDeal , a group buying software that powers most of the groupon like websites, I have been following Groupon for a long time. Quite often, I'm amused by the news and visibility that the Groupon is getting on the media. The recent buzz that Google May Acquire Groupon for $6 Billion, and It Would Be Worth Every Penny (!!!) and Groupon Turns Down Google’s $6 Billion Offer --and weird comments & noise posted over there--seems to prove my doubts that it's more of a hype or paid news. If my doubts are true, there's a clear "success mantra" for every internet company!!

Groupon is chasing GroupDeal

The TechCrunch post on Groupon 2.0 is a surprise for us, as it shows that Groupon is chasing GroupDeal , the group buying software that our team has developed, powering so many groupon like sites. Starting from initial version, we added the facility for the merchants to post deals; the Groupon 2.0 interface shows that it's merely a minor tweaks on the concept. But, always I wonder how Groupon is "stealing" the news and getting hype--paid news??
