Beware of Chennai Book Fair crime - mobile theft

Unfortunately, lost my iPhone 4 that was gifted my boss on Jan 9, 2011 (Sunday) at the Chennai Book Fair held at St.George Anglo Indian School (Opp to Pachayappan college, Poonamalee High Road, Aminjikarai, Chennai - 600 030).

When I visited T.P.Chatram Police Station to file the complaint, I have noted about 20 mobile theft complaint from the visitors of the book fair! So, there is a big chance that a mob is targeting the book fair. Beware!

Steps to be taken (general guideline)

Try to reach the mobile from other phone (to confirm if it's been stolen)

File a complaint with nearest police station

Deactivate your lost SIM with the operator, especially if it's a post paid connection.

Things to be mentioned in police complaint

Handset model

IMEI

Cost of the mobile

Last used SIM (mobile number)

Date and time of loss

Place of loss

Alternate contact details (if the phone is recovered)

Have to receive the CSR (Complaint Statement Receipt(?)) as a receipt.

Chennai - Online Complaint - Online facility to file complaints. Personally I feel that even if the complaint is filed at the police station, it's better to file with a note at here. This may hopefully avoid any kind of typo. For the sake of record, when I tried it, the form was silently failing and after hectic try noted that it doesn't accept lengthy subject!

Problems with CakePHP - follow-up

Some people have responded including the Datepicker fame Marc Grabanski . So, this follow-up... First of all, I was not ranting nor complaining; I've just blogged/documented my experience. Humble Award - Dr. A.N. Sreevatsan

Dr. A.N. Sreevatsan , ENT specialist located in Adyar, Chennai is one of the gems available in medicines. No assistants in his consulting room and he'd take at least 15mins for every patients. So far I have referred many and all are happy with his approach. Every wannabe doctor should visit him personally to understand his approach. I wish him to be more famous than now. Prediction: Expensify will crash through its insane question-based hiring process

I have huge respect for David Barrett for his technical background. But, his company, Expensify is following a modern psychometric test called a question-based hiring process . The company claims to look for candidates with 'Talent, Ambition, and Humility'. The psychometric test was a fad in India about 20-years ago and the companies that followed the hiring approaches are no more and some have changed the approaches to survive.
